In the vast, untamed landscapes of Chilean Patagonia, Leona Amarga offers a unique experience of deep connection with wildlife. The ranch is located in one of the areas with the highest presence of wild pumas in the entire region. Here, there are no collars or electronic trackers: each sighting is authentic, the fruit of ancestral knowledge and the keen perception of expert guides and trackers.

With a 97% success rate, daily outings—of up to 7 hours—bring you up close and personal with this enigmatic predator in a respectful and safe manner. A minimum of three nights is recommended to maximize observation opportunities in diverse settings and landscapes.

Itinerary

7:00 AM - Meeting with puma tracker at Laguna Amarga ranch
07:15 hrs. - 10:30 - First day of search and observation

11:00 - 16:00 - Non-observation hours (exit from the room)

4:00 PM - 7:30 PM - Second day of search and observation

Please be aware that this is an adventure activity, which involves exposure to certain risks, dangers, and possible accidents. Consequently, Yellow Plum Ltda. and Turismo La Leona Expediciones Limitada are not responsible for such eventualities. I declare that I understand that I must follow the instructions of responsible guides and puma trackers at all times, and I accept these terms and conditions.

Reservation Policy

The reservation will be confirmed upon receipt of full payment. A 30% deposit of the total amount is required in advance. The remaining balance must be paid 60 days before the tour begins.

For reservations made less than 60 days in advance, payment must be made in full.

Mandatory Travel Insurance

Since our trips take place in remote areas, it is mandatory to have personal insurance that covers:

  • Medical and hospital care

  • Accidents, injuries or death

  • Trip cancellation and reduction

  • Repatriation and evacuation

Please ensure your insurance does not exclude the activities you will be participating in (trekking, horseback riding, etc.). Yellow Plum Ltda. is not responsible for medical costs or evacuation in the event of an emergency. We will act in accordance with protocols, but the cost is the responsibility of the traveler.

Yellow Plum Ltda does not carry liability insurance. It cannot assume responsibility for incidents related to the traveler's conduct, equipment, animals (in the case of horseback riding), or situations caused by third parties. All travelers must sign a liability waiver before the trip.
Health Condition
All participants must be in good physical and mental health. The health form must be completed and submitted with the initial deposit. This allows us to plan a safe experience appropriate to your abilities.
Passports and Visas
Travelers are responsible for keeping their passport valid for at least two months after the program end date. They are also responsible for arranging any visas or other documents required to enter Chile.
Personal belongings
Yellow Plum Ltda is not responsible for the loss, theft or damage of personal belongings, whether before, during or after the trip.

Cancellations and Refunds

Puma viewing activities are subject to a 90-day cancellation policy. If canceled within this period, no refunds will be issued. However, the tour may be rescheduled for another date, subject to availability.

Reservations for groups of 4 or more people are subject to a 120-day cancellation policy.
